curling.cam is live-scoring and live-streaming software for curling clubs, operated by Gareth Jones. This page explains what information the service handles and what it does with it.

What the service is

A club enters end-by-end scores on a tablet at each sheet. Those scores are shown on the club's public page at curling.cam, on lounge TV pages, and in a scoreboard overlay on the club's YouTube live streams. Scores are public by design — that is the point of the service.

Information we collect

Scores and game state (team names, ends, hammer, which sheet) entered by the club. The club's name, logo and sponsor logos uploaded by the club. Web links the club chooses to show (for example a "watch live" link for a sheet). Standard server logs (IP address, time, page requested) kept briefly for operating the service.

Curlers and viewers do not create accounts and are not asked for any personal information. There is no advertising and no third-party tracking. The site sets no tracking cookies.

Google and YouTube data

A club that streams can authorise a small application, curling.cam box, to manage live broadcasts on the club's own YouTube channel. This uses Google sign-in with the YouTube permission. The application runs on an encoder computer at the club, not on curling.cam's servers.

With that permission it does three things on the club's channel: reads the channel's live stream keys, creates and manages the live broadcasts for each sheet, and reads each broadcast's public watch address so it can be shown on the club's scores page. The authorisation token is stored only on the club's encoder computer, under the club's control. It is not sent to or stored by curling.cam, and is not shared with anyone else. No other YouTube or Google account data is accessed, and nothing is used for advertising or profiling.

curling.cam box's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

A club can withdraw this access at any time from its Google account (myaccount.google.com/permissions) or by deleting the token from its encoder computer.

Where data is stored

Scores, logos and links are stored with our hosting provider, Cloudflare, and served from its network. Data is kept while a club uses the service and is removed when a club asks us to remove it.

Sharing

We do not sell or share any information with third parties, other than the hosting provider needed to run the service and the public display of scores described above.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Questions, or a request to remove a club's data: gareth@gareth.com.
